Popular Nollywood actor Yul Edochie on 5th of February, 2021 has shared his view on the trending post made by a popular Nigerian calling on investigation into Emmanuella of MarkAngelComedy’s source of wealth after the purchase of an expensive luxurious Jeep, building of a multimillion naira mansion for her mum among many others

Yul Edochie who was a governorship candidate in the last Anambra State gubernatorial election while giving his view on the trending post says;

“Our country will be better if we start worrying about the source of our people’s poverty same way we worry about the source of people’s wealth”

This is coming after the popular upcoming actor who doubled as a road-show promoter, Oriretan Honour through his twitter handle “@horiretan” on Wednesday, 3rd of February said the little Emmanuella of MarkAngelComedy source of wealth should be investigated.

He further went on by calling on the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), Police, Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) and other “related financial investigative organizations to look deeply into Emmanuella of #MarkAngelComedy source of income”, asking “where she is getting all these spray of money from at her little age”

Recall that Emmanuella had on Tuesday, 2nd of February bought an expensive luxurious Jeep for herself few weeks after she single handled built a mansion worth millions of naira for her mum among many other unpublicized purchases.

This post had generated and still generating a lot of reactions as many have taken to their Twitter, Facebook and Instagram handles to lambast the young talented actor, while others are still of the opinion that the little comedienne should thoroughly be investigated as demanded.

According to reports revealed on Friday, 9th of October, the recently axed DMW crew member, Sanni Goriola Wasiu a.k.a Lil Frosh has been arrested and detained for physical assault.

This development came as a result of the alleged physical abuse he meted to his girlfriend named Gift Camille which went viral on social media last week. It was reported that the girlfriend and her manager took a step further by calling the police to get him locked up after the incidence and he is now in Alagbole police station, Lagos State.

According to Gift, she had endured this assault for 10 months but thought he would turn a new leaf.

Recall that Lil Frosh has also lost his contract with DMW as a result of this issue.

Meanwhile, DMW boss, Davido has promised to be there for him in his endeavors.

The Senate has in a motion organized by former Minister of Interior, Senator Patrick Moro in Abuja ordered its committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions to look into the Commercial banks regarding their excessive charges on bank users accounts.

This statement came as a result of the constant complaints by individuals who are usually hurt and caught unaware by the charges ranging from different amounts at different times.

The Chamber hereby sanctioned the Central Bank of Nigeria to work on the issue in view to reducing the charges.

Senator Moro said, “These charges being deducted from customers’ accounts by banks have caused uproar within the public as Nigerians have expressed their dissatisfaction and displeasure over such excessive deductions which they feel are fraudulent and targeted at further impoverishing Nigerians.”

“The Nigeria Inter Bank Settlement System in their Central database for banking transactions in the country showed that as of September 30, 2016, there were 29.4 million active cards being used by the 63 million active bank customers. Thus, bank customers in Nigeria will pay not less than N1.46bn to banks as card maintenance charges every month, totaling about N17.54bn in a year” he added.

The All Progressive Congress (APC) has few minutes ago sent a congratulatory message to the winner of the Edo State 2020 Governorship Election, Godwin Obaseki and his deputy, Phillip Shaibu who contested under the umbrella of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

In a statement signed by Anselm Ojezua, the Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Edo State Chapter on Tuesday, 22nd of September, the state APC has joined hands with President Muhammadu Buhari and the National Caretaker Committee of the party to congratulate the incumbent governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki over his victory in the just concluded Gubernatorial Election.

Ojesua acknowledged the fact that the Edo State Gubernatorial election as generally acclaimed was peaceful, orderly and transparent, as he also commend the people of Edo state who “have made their choice in a very clear and unambiguous manner.

The State APC chairman however attributed the loss the Party suffered to “selfish, insensitive, arrogant and irresponsible leadership”, while urging “those who contested to sheathe their swords and put the election behind”.

“We must all close ranks with the Government in order to ensure a seamless transition to the final lap of governance in the state without being subjected to any further distraction and rancour” he said.

Ojesua in the statement advised Gov. Godwin Obaseki to be magnanimous in victory and also provided “robust infrastructure” to guarantee economic growth at this critical time for the benefit of the good people of Edo State.

Recall that, after the defeat, the candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Ize-Iyamu in a statement issued to pressmen accused INEC of tampering with result and said that election result is being studied to determine the next step to take.

In line with this, the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma has recently come out to reject the outcome of the Edo State just concluded governorship election, affirming that the true victory will be decided in the court of law.

Indigenes of Satellite Town in Lagos State were thrown into dismay as a Lady identified as Nneoma Obiri committed suicide by hanging self in her apartment.

At the early hours of Monday, in lagos state, a young lady identified as Nneoma Obiri had commited suicide over heartbreak she got from her boyfriend.

According to a family member who pleaded anonymity, Nneoma had been dating one Mr okoye for 4years now without any disturbing issue.

But just few days ago, she came across an invitation letter with her boyfriend’s picture on it, wedding another woman.

Nneoma was very better about the disappointing act, “she called us her relative and we spoke to her and tried our best to console her”. Unfortunately, everyone was shocked when the news came that Nneoma Obiri has taken her own life in her rented apartment.

The Emir of Zaria, Alhaji Shehu Idris has died at about 12pm on Sunday, 20th of September, in 44 Military Hospital, Kaduna after a brief illness.

Confirming this sad incident, the Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai through his Twitter handle said

“VERY SAD: It is with great sadness that I confirmed the passing of the father of our state, His Highness Emir of Zazzau, Alh (Dr) Shehu Idris CFR. He died at the 44 Military Hospital Kaduna today after a brief illness.”

Today, 18th September 2020 will see the current Governor of Edo state, Godwin Obaseki and APC governorship Candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu slug it out for the coveted post in an election holding across various local governments in the state.

Obaseki, who is a PDP candidate has just completed a term in office and is hoping to go for a second. He will face 14 other candidates but realistically, we know APC is the other strong force to give the PDP a major challenge.

About 12 of the LGA will play a big part in deciding who the winner which includes

The FCT has 37 new Covid-19 cases with Lagos having 27, Plateau 16 while Kaduna has 9.

Abia has 7, Gombe and Ondo with 6 new cases each, Imo 5 while the quartet of Delta, Ekiti , Kwara and Oyo have 6 cases respectively.

Bauchi, alongside Ogun, Kano, Katsina and Yobe have just 1.

This brings the total confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Nigeria to 56,604 with 47,872 discharged cases and 1,091 deaths.

Government’s inability to consistently subsidise Power supply became the reason for its subsidy removal, while inefficiency remains the fear of the largely unmetered customers, hence, the call for metering of electricity for consumers.

While Power supply is a little efficient in some areas, it is not same in other areas, hence the Government’s increase electricity tariffs for those with not less than 12 hours power supply.

Some feat may have been achieved in some areas by Nigeria Electricity Distributing company as we may need to give kudos to them for trying to justify their increament in electricity tariff, i.e writing from Lagos-Ogun border.

For about 5 months, it hasn’t been raining in Lagos and almost all the entire southwestern States, and one thing that seemed enjoyable in this Lagos-Ogun border axis is the relative power supply of at least 12 hours.

When the rain according to meteorologists bounced back September this month, few drop of rain knocked down power supply rendering the entire area in total blackouts for about 3 days as power was not available and when it appeared available, it could not last for one minute and people began to ask how this Electricity Distributing Company will be able to convince people to pay more as the rain becomes a daily affair. But the power Distribution Company threw this border community into unbelievable surprise by providing unshakable stable power supply throughout this period, as it is heavily raining till now, to the Inquisition of many.

Yes! It rained heavily for about 4 hours without a blink from the public power supply. Since then, power supply in that area has always withered heavy rainfall, except when power is deliberately seized for other reasons.

The tariff increment for those with not less than 12 hours power supply is therefore justifiable to all intents and purposes in this case, even with large unmetered customers, to be fair to the power company but not for those who are experiencing frequent unstable power supply.

Where these Power Distribution Companies for bureaucratic and other reasons are unable to meter the entire consumers for now, efficiency should be a key parameter for tariff increment. Those who don’t have up to 12 hours of power supply should gradually be considered for improvement so as to extend tariff increment to them also, to ensure more revenues are available to them as no reasonable individual will be oppose to such, although the economy is tough and bites harder, but it is left for this government to improve the purchasing powers of the citizenry and improve the entire economy.
