The Emir of Zaria, Alhaji Shehu Idris has died at about 12pm on Sunday, 20th of September, in 44 Military Hospital, Kaduna after a brief illness.
Confirming this sad incident, the Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai through his Twitter handle said
“VERY SAD: It is with great sadness that I confirmed the passing of the father of our state, His Highness Emir of Zazzau, Alh (Dr) Shehu Idris CFR. He died at the 44 Military Hospital Kaduna today after a brief illness.”
In line with this, a one time Nigeria Senator, Shehu Sani took to his Twitter handle saying;
“I received the shocking news of the demise of our Emir of Zaria HRH Alhaji Shehu Idris. We lost a unifying figure.”
