Expressing concern over electricity tarrif increase, the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, on Thurday, 3rd of September said he rejects the increased electricity tarrif.
According to Atiku through his media handle, it is totally unreasonable and disheartening to increase electricity tarrif, owing to the fact that Nigerians are still cut down with lockdown as a result of covid 19 pandemic, leading to loss of jobs and economic melt down.
Nigerians according to the former presidential candidate needs stimulus package and not an impetuous disregard for the challenges they face as many Nigerians have not earned salary in over 6 months.
This is however coming after president Buhari, reportedly approve increased electricity tarrif from September 1st 2020 as distribution companies notified their customers of the commencement of the new charges which has generated reactions from the well meaning Nigerians.
Atiku tweeted ” I reject the increased electricity tariffs. Coming out of the lockdown, Nigerians need a stimulus, not an impetuous disregard for the challenges they face.
“Many Nigerians have not earned an income for months, due to no fault of theirs. This increase is ill-timed and ill-advised.”
