Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom has recently reiterated his promise to send any Fulani herdsmen that enters Benue state as a vigilante to jail.
This was after Miyeitti Allah, disclosed his plan to establish vigilante group in all states of federation to combat insecurity during press conference in Abuja recently.
Responding to this, the governor of Benue State warned the Fulani herdsmen not to enter his state unless they want to go to jail, because their motive is to carry out their barbaric act in the state.
In his words, the Governor said, “No Fulani group will come into Benue State when I’m the governor; you people know that it is a lie, they cannot come” adding that there is “No room for vigilante group in whatever kind”.
He further explained that “When I confronted them, they said they would not use vigilante group of Nigeria”, saying “We have our own vigilante that operates here; we have community policing in which we are recruiting now and livestock guard that take care of herdsmen in active support with security men”.
“So no single vigilante group of Miyeitti Allah will come to Benue State to make any noise here. For us in Benue State, we believe in the rule of law an we will jail them.” he said.
Meanwhile, the fulani herdsmen organise has threatened to drag Governor Ortom to court over his response unless he withdraws his statement.
