Anxiety trails following the gruesome murder of Mrs. Yemisi Baderu, wife of the Chief Imam of Ayere community in ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Mrs Yemisi was said to have been murdered in her house, in the presence of her husband and children on Thursday night as the assailants allegedly attacked her with a cutlass.
The entire community is saddened by this condemnable action, describing it as the first of its kind in the peaceful community like Ayere.
Expressing displeasure and annoyance over the incident, the traditional ruler of the town and the Alayere of Ayere Oba JO Olubo, has vowed to bring the culprits to book as he pleaded with the police not to release the perpatrators of this babaric act until thorough investigation and prosecution is carried out.
However, the Chairman, Senior Special Assistant on Security, in charge of Ijumu Local Government, Taufiq Isa, condemned the attack when he visited the community on Saturday, describing it as heartless and brutal.
According to the chairman, who reiterated that this kind of incident has never occurred in the Local Government, assuring the residents of the government’s commitment to try and restore peace, order and stability in the community.
Members of the community however call on the government and security agencies to come to their aid, in ensuring that sad incident relating to this never repeat itself again.
