Barcelona Legend, Lionel Messi has told the club he wants to leave giving the disgraceful defeat of 8-2 with Bayern Munich as a major reason for his exit.
This comes after the 8-2 trashing to Bayern Munich just 11 days ago in the quarter-final of the UEFA champions league which capped a miserable season for the Catalans, going trophy-less since the 2007-2008 season.

However, there is a bit of confusion regarding the contract situation because the release clause states that Messi can leave at every season if he wants, so Messi keyed to this and requested to leave for free but Barcelona has refused and insisted that the season finished late, stating that the year was an exception due to Covid-19 pandemic which the 700m Euros must trigger.
You have a feeling this is the last straw for Messi taking cognizance to the various ill-fated events that have occurred in-house; from clashing with the now ex- sporting director Eric Abidal to the alleged bust-ups with teammates to disagreeing with the head of board, Bartomeu. This line has been drawn a long time ago and it has just been triggered by the embarrassing defeat in the hands of the German champions.
