Wilberforce Juta, a former deputy governor and ambassador died at the late hours of Saturday, 15th of August.
Juta was the deputy governor of Gongola State from 1979 to 1983 and finally became the governor after the then governor, his boss, Abubakar Barde had resigned from office in early 1983. Juta remained Governor till October 1983 when his successor Alhaji Bamanger Tukur was elected.
In a statement released, the present Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri described the news as shocking and thereby declared a 3-day mourning for him which will take effect from Saturday, 15th of August being same day of his death.
He also described the late governor as a Humanitarian and a loyal server to the state who will be missed by many, “Adamawa felt his impact in various sectors especially in education and politics”, Fintiri said.
Wilberforce was Nigeria’s ambassador to Zimbabwe from 2000-2004 and also a stake-holder in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) up until his demise at the late hours of Saturday, 15th of August after a brief Illness.May his soul rest in peace.
