BREAKING: Lagos Lifts Ban, Extends Sales Hours, Says Market Now Everyday

The Lagos State Government has extended market operations for food and non- food sales at the late hours of Sunday, 16th of August.

The state’s Commisioner for Local Government Affairs and Community affairs, Dr. Wale Ahmed in a statement released said the State Governor, Babajide Sanwoolu took the decision to ease hardship and has given the economy a lift in respect to the Covid 19 pandemic.

According to the Commissioner, food markets are to open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays while non-food markets are to open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
The markets are to open by 6am and close by 6pm daily with immediate effect.

He urged the traders to however adhere strictly to the Covid 19 guidelines for their own good.

Recall that Lagos State is the state topping the list of total states with the highest number of Covid-19 cases having 16, 456 cases, followed by FCT being 4,714 cases, Oyo is 2,952 cases, Edo with 2,423 recorded cases as other states within the country follows suit according to document published by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) on the Saturday, 15th of August, 2020.

It would also be of note that as cases are on the increasing side, Lagos State few days ago also lifted ban on worship centers within the state with measures issued out to curbing the spread of the deadly virus.
