Following the controversy trailing ex-CBN deputy governor’s allegations, the National Broadcasting commission(NBC) has fined Nigeria Info N5m over the recent comment made in the radio station by the former CBN debuty governor, Mailafia Obadiah, as contained in a statement signed by the NBC on Thursday.
The state titled: ‘The National Broadcasting Commission Fines Nigeria Info 99.3 For Unprofessional Broadcast ’.
Part of the statement reads; “The station provided its platform for the guest, Dr. Mailafia Obadiah to promote unverifiable and inciting views that could encourage or incite to crime and lead to public disorder”.
Mailafia, who was the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in 2019 presidential election, in an interview with a broadcast station, whose video later went viral, had said he had a chat with two repentant Boko Haram members who named a northern governor as a commander of the terror group.
In relation to this development, the NBC claims Nigeria Info, provided it’s station as a platform for the guest, Dr. Mailafia Obadiah to promote unverifiable and inciting views that could encourage or incite insecurity which could lead to public chaos.
