Pres. Muhammadu Buhari has on Thursday, 16th of July reiterated his commitment towards proffering lasting solution to the rising issues surrounding NDDC.
This was made known in a statement he personally issued out through his twitter handle on Thursday.
Mr. President tweeted ” I am determined to get to the root of the problem undermining the development of the Niger Delta, in spite of the enormous national resources dedicated to this annually. The administration remains committed to bring rapid, even and sustainable development to the region “
The President in the statement also said he has instructed the National Assembly, auditing firm and investigative with law enforcement agencies to commence their duty in other to achieve sanity, transparency and accountability in the system.
Recall that Mrs Joy, the former NDDC boss has accused the minister of Niger Delta affairs, Sen. Godwill Akpabio who doubled as the former governor of Akwa Ibom state of embezzlement of funds meant for the development of this region and other misconduct like rape, harassment, abuse of office, among many others.
This has generated a lot of controversies in the political system of the country and has almost led to loss of public trust for the leaders in this sector.
