After Delta State police swoop into action on 27th of June, six pump-action rifles were dug up from a church in Okwe area of Asaba.
In the course of the operation, some fire arms were dug up after they were hidden in Christ Holy Church International building located in Asaba.
While addressing news men concerning this incident, the state Commissioner of Police, Hafiz Inuwa said ” when we got our intelligence report on June 23, we just swoop into the area where Christ Holy Church Campground is situated in Okwe” and in the course of the search, “we were able to recover six assault rifles because pump-action rifles are now a prohibited firearm” he added.
The suspect, Freeman Eze, a non indigene of Delta State has kept these firearms in the church for over a year, stating that they were meant for security purposes during an interrogation by the police officers at the scene.
The commissioner later revealed that both the pastor of the church and Freeman Eze, the vigilante have been arrested for indept questioning.
He later said “investigation concerning this matter has commenced”
