As against publications by virtually all media within the nation on Tuesday, The Federal High Court in Port-Harcout of River State has come out to clear the air that it did not bar Obaseki, the Edo State Governor from participating in the PDP primary election already scheduled to hold on Thursday 25th of June.
Recall that Godwin Obaseki defected from the All Progressive Congress (APC) after he was denied participation in the party’s primary election over certificate sager, to the People Democratic Party (PDP) and he was charged to court be Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama who vowed not to step down for the Governor.
One of the major reasons stated by Mr Ogbeide-Ihama was that Mr Obaseki recently joined the party and only those who purchased the forms during the stipulated window should be allowed to participate in the primary election.
Other reasons include;
Questioning of his educational credentials,
Preying that the upcoming primaries be put on hold pending when the court would hear the motion on notice and among other petitions filed.
According to Premium Time, The judge, E. A Obile however, did not grant those prayers.
The judge asked that the motion seeking to bar Mr Obaseki be served on the defendants including Mr Obaseki via newspaper publication.
Remember that most newspapers, TV stations, radio stations, blogs and other media platforms within the country except GBOSGISTBLOG earlier report on Tuesday that Mr. Obaseki had been barred by the federal court from contesting the PDP election.
Those accounts of the court proceeding were inaccurate as later confirmed.
