Agbala, a famous shop owner within the UNIZIK axis specifically at commissioner’s quarter in Ifite, has just been killed by her husband Njagidi after accusing her of infidelity which result into gruesome and intense fight leading to her death.
According to eye witnesses around, Njagidi in the course of the fight after been challenged and countlessly insulted by his wife, with intense anger, picked up a plywood nearest to him and released it on Agbala’s head as attempt to stop him was aborted.
While bleeding, Agbala screamed for help and in a few minutes, she collapsed.
On getting to the hospital (name undisclosed) after being rushed by neighbours and some empathetic passersby at the scene, she was confirmed dead probably might have died on the way.
GGB reporters gathered that Agbala who hailed from Ayamelum Local government area of Anambra State had been married to her murderer, Njagidi for the past eleven 11 years.
It would be shocking to know that fighting, quarreling and conflict had been a reoccurring happenings since she got married to her husband as the second wife.
Attesting to the recurring marital conflict, Chinedu Makasi, an M.Sc holder in Economy at Unizik who lives adjacent to Agbala’s shop said
“they have always been fighting in that small container shop…like 3 crates of bottle beer would be broken at each fight” while adding that “fights normally endue between the couple almost 3 times in a week…We always separate them after they wounded themselves”
Recalling a similar incident that happened between this couple, Chinedu said sometimes “last year, they had a very big fight that was brutal which left the husbands face (Njagidi) so disfigured with bottle” adding that both couple had been advised countless times to consider the option of divorce but was strongly ignored.
Attempt to reaching the state Police Public Relation Officer to get details of this incident was aborted due to poor connection.
