Gov. Obaseki of Edo state after he was disqualified from participating in the All Progressive Congress (APC) primary election on Friday, has finally been welcomed into the Peoples Democratic Party.
This was made known as the former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubaka who doubled as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential candidate in the 2019 general election reportedly called the Edo State Governor asking him to join the party just when the APC disqualified him, leading to his inability to participate in the party’s primary election.
Similarly, MaryGift in a report said one among the friends of Governor vowed that the governor would be reelected in September. This has since then got Nigerians thinking on which platform will this assuring declaration be fulfilled if not the opposition party being PDP.
Responding to the question on if the Governor would proceed to court as the next available option to seek for justice, the Governor’s aid said “he would not appeal the disqualification”
Recall that Governor Obaseki had on Friday 12th of June been disqualified from the party’s primary. This was made known to the public through a report submitted by Prof. Jonathan Ayuba who led the screening committee of the APC for Edo Governorship primary election.
The report reads “we screened 6 aspirants, 3 were eligible to contest and three were deemed ineligible to participate”
Unfortunately, the Edo State Governor’s was among the three that were ineligible to contest for the party’s primary election scheduled to hold June 22nd while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) holds June 23rd.
