The immediate past Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation(NNPC) died at late night on Friday in Abuja hospital,
His death was announced on twitter by his successor, the current GMD of NNPC, Mr. Mele Kyari—
“My brother, my friend and my mentor, Dr. Maikanti Kachalla Baru, immediate past GMD of NNPC died late last night. He was of exemplary character and disposition. May Allah forgive him and have mercy upon him” he tweeted
Dr. Maikanti Baru was the former NNPC GMD appointed by President Buhari and he led the organization from July 2016 to July 2019.
The 60 years old former Boss until his death was challenged with critical illness. Though the nature of the illness was not specifically disclosed, but GGB reporters gathered from an anonymous source that Dr. Baru developed some symptoms few weeks back and when it became critical, he was then rushed to an Abuja hospital where later died.
