Total Reduction of Ticket Price for Keke And Okada With Immediate Effect in Delta—Gov. Okowa

As part of measures to cushion the effect of covid-19 on indigenes, Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State has directed the immediate re-reduction of daily tickets for tricycle (keke) and motorcycle (okada) operators within the state.

Few hours ago, Chief Obi Nzete, the state President of the Tricycle and Motorcycle Operators Association, in an interview at Kpoko FM made this know that the reduction is for the period of the pandemic.

Stating the area of reduction, Chief Nzete said that the motorcycle ticket which was formerly reduced from N300 – N250 has again been reduced to N200 while that of tricycle ticket which was formerly reduced from N200-N150 is now N100.

The President further said “the state government and the association were deeply concerned about the plight of the operators, riders and the indigenes in diaspora” adding that “all Deltans should obey strictly all measures put in place to curb the spread of the virus” as he adviced the members of the association to comply to this new readjustment in price with immediate effect as defaulters will be consequently sanctioned.

This ticket price reduction came in few days after tricyclists (Keke riders) protested at some major areas within the state such as Enehren Junction and its environs over policy limiting them to carrying two(2) passengers yet the prices of tickets, police charges and community task-force(Agbero) levy remain constant.
